PARK CITY, Kan. – Benedictine Wrestling returned to the NAIA National Championships this season for the time under head coach Greg Barner as Christion Griggs earned an automatic berth at 174 pounds.

Griggs matched up with No. 12-ranked Leo Galasso (Indiana Tech) in his first match of the Championship and lost by tech fall. He bounced back with a 22-17 decision in the first round of the consolation bracket before he dropped his final match of the Championship by fall to Abel Nava (Providence).

With the win, Griggs scored 0.5 points for the Ravens as Benedictine placed 49th in the Championship.

The trip for Griggs was the Ravens first automatic qualifier for nationals for Benedictine in 6 years. The trip marked the first qualification for a freshman from Benedictine since the 2017 Championship when Anthony Orozco qualified at 165 pounds.

Griggs finished his first year at Benedictine with an overall record of 29-12.
