Box Score 2 Benedictine College Athletic Director Charlie Gartenmayer has announced the elevation of Thomas McMurray to Director of Athletics Bands and the Raven Regiment.
McMurray takes over after serving throughout the 2024-25 academic year as the Assistant Director.
"I am honored for the opportunity to serve the students of the Raven Regiment and Benedictine College," McMurray said. "Athletic Bands were an important part of my college life, and I hope to give these students the same experience and opportunities. We had a great first year together, and we're excited for next season. We can't wait to see everyone in the stands in August."
McMurray earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education and Trombone Performance at Eastern Kentucky University. While there, he spent five years in the Division I Marching Colonels and worked with 2 state championship-winning high schools as a brass and visual tech. In 2020, he graduated from the University of Kansas with his Master's in Trombone Performance and began working with Benedictine College in 2024 as an adjunct professor of low brass. He is currently working on his Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance at the University of Kansas and plays in regional brass bands, jazz ensembles, and orchestras.
"We are thrilled to have Thomas continue to build the Raven Regiment as our new Director of Athletic Bands," Gartenmayer said. "The growth of the Raven Regiment continues to add to an outstanding game day atmosphere at Larry Wilcox Stadium in the fall and the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium in the Winter. We are excited to for where Thomas will continue to take the program."
In addition to serving as the Assistant Director and Adjunct Professor this past academic year, McMurray also helped the Athletic Department, serving as a Gameday Administrator for Men's and Women's Lacrosse and Men's and Women's Soccer.
