KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced this week's Heart Cross Country Runners of the Week and Benedictine swept the honors for the second time this season.
Joshua Melendez earned his second Men's Runner of the Week, while Helen Ullrich was named the Women's Runner of the Week.
Melendez posted a time of 25:45 which was the fifth-best time among NAIA Runners at the event. His 29th place finish against NCAA Div. I, Div. II, NAIA and Junior College programs helped the Ravens to a top-10 finish as a team.
Ullrich finished in 58th at the Gans Creek Classic to help the Ravens to a top 10 finish against NCAA Div. I, Div. II, NAIA and Junior College programs. Her time of 23:34 was the sixth best finish among NAIA runners in the race.
The Raven Women recently moved into the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, moving to No. 23 on Thursday last week while the Raven Men are listed in the receiving votes category, just four point shy of cracking the Top 25.
The two programs are off until Oct. 11 when they will compete in the Holiday Inn Express Classic, hosted by Dordt (Iowa).
