BALDWIN CITY – Benedictine Cross Country returned to action on Saturday morning, competing in the annual Wildcat XC Classic hosted by Baker University.
The Raven Women earned a first-place finished with a score of 24 points, while the Raven Men placed second with 30 place, trailing NCAA Div. II Rockhurst by 4 points.
For the Raven Women, Elizabeth Skendzel took first place on the 6k Course with a time of 22:59.27. In total, the Ravens finished with six runners inside the top 10 as Skendzel was followed by Jeanna Marie Lotz (second), Cecilia Campos (fifth), Josie Jansen (seventh), Helen Ullrich (eighth) and Emilie Nelson (10th).
For the Raven Men, they were paced by Joshua Melendez in second place as he finished the 8k Course in a time of 25:49.28. In total, the Ravens finished with six runners in the top 10 as Melendez was followed by Brendan Alfonso (fifth), Sebastian Michael (sixth), Leo Cozzi (seventh), John Joyce (ninth) and Thomas Peuster (10th).
The Ravens are off until Sept. 26, when they travel to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri.
