DES MOINES – Benedictine Cheer and Dance competed in their annual Heart Championships on Saturday, hosted this year by Grand View University.
Competitive Cheer was sitting in fourth place after the prelim round and finished with a total score of 82.18 to place sixth overall in the event. Their overall score was their second-best of the season.
Competitive Dance was sitting in fourth place after the prelim round and held that position after the finals, scoring a total of 84.58 to place fourth overall. Their overall score set a new season high total, passing their previous high set at the Concordia (Neb.) Invite.
Missouri Valley was crowned the Heart Competitive Cheer Champions while Grand View was crowned the Competitive Dance Champions.
In addition to the team competition, auditions were submitted for consideration of All-Conference selections and Competitive Dance earned three All-Heart selections this season. Cecilia Bozeman was named first team, Giselle Glotzbach was named second team while Madeline Glotzbach was named honorable mention.
Eight programs competed for the Heart Competitive Dance Championship this year while 10 programs competed for the Heart Competitive Cheer Championship.
