DES MOINES – Benedictine Women's Cross Country placed third overall on Saturday in the Grand View Viking Invitational.

Competing on a flat, 2-loop course with a few minor hills, the field of competitors faced muddy conditions, standing water and tall grass that caused a slower paced race.

Leah Haeusser placed 16th overall as she paced the Ravens. She was the third-fastest NAIA competitor in the field that featured several Heart programs, some additional NAIA programs along with NCAA Div. 2 and Div. 3 programs.

Behind Haeusser was Sophia Thome (19th), Evelyn Kuhn (21st), Ave Wolf (30th), Josie Jansen (38th), Meredith Baumann (51st) and Abigail Meyer (55th) who scored points for the Ravens.

Benedictine returns to action on Friday, traveling to Columbia, Mo., to compete in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri.
