Mason Kump enters his second season as an Assistant Wrestling Coach in 2026.
Kump’s coaching philosophy centers on building trust, having fun, and developing the whole person. He believes athletes perform at their best when they genuinely enjoy what they are doing and foster strong relationships with their coaches and teammates. By emphasizing staying present, focusing on the task at hand, and setting small, achievable goals, Kump guides student-athletes toward larger long-term accomplishments. Above all, he aims to use wrestling as a vehicle to prepare athletes for life, instilling discipline, confidence, accountability, and character that endure long after their competitive careers end.
A native of Coal City, West Virginia, Kump was a High School All-American and a West Virginia State Champion. As a four-year starter at Belmont Abbey College, his decorated collegiate career included a NCAA Division II Regional 4th-Place Finish at 184 lbs (2021) and 285 lbs (2025).
Coach Kump earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Motorsports Management, while minoring in Digital Sports Media at Belmont Abbey College.
