The Raven volleyball team got a solid effort out of its two-member Senior class on Tuesday night but in the end, Benedictine fell short on Senior Night to Ottawa University.
Benedictine (6-20) rallied to take game three of the match but couldn't pull out another win as Ottawa (20-5) took the match 3-1.
The Ravens finished with 41 killed on the night, led by outside hitter Chelsey Matous (Sr., Sunnyvale, Texas.) with 12 kills. Tuesday's effort for the Senior matched a season high which also happens to be her career high effort as well.
Outside hitter Carly Steinlage (Soph., Topeka) and middle hitter Hannah Grazda (Fr., Placitas, N.M.) each added seven kills.
Setters Emilee Clark (Soph., Olathe) and Sara Navinskey (Jr., Winchester, Kan.) combined for 34 assists – Clark finishing with 20 and Navinskey with 14.
Defensively, libber Cassie Rockers (Sr., Mound City, Kan.) finished with 17 digs. Tuesday was the 16th time this season the Senior defensive specialist finished with more than 15 digs in a match.
Defensive specialist Lauren Eggen (Soph., Jefferson City, Mo.)added nine digs while Clark finished with eight.
Middle hitter Lyn Gengler (Jr., Beloit) led the front-line defense one solo block and five block assists while Matous finished with three block assist and one solo block.
The Ravens wrap up their non-con schedule on Friday with a trip to Lawrence to take on Haskell Indian Nations University at 7 p.m.
