A buzzer-beating shot earned the Ravens their third straight win in a dramatic fashion overcoming Central Methodist University 51-50.

With 23 seconds left in the game, Raven head coach Ryan Moody called a time out, with Benedictine (12-5, 4-2 HAAC) trailing Central Methodist University(11-8, 4-3 HAAC) by three points.

Coming out of the timeout the Ravens did not look for the tying 3-point shot, but instead drove to the basket and TJ Stevens (Sr., Overland Park) made a jumper from the the low block after rebounding his own shot, bring the game within one.

"(There was) no thought on the three." Moody said. "We were going to extend the game. It's our philosophy as a program on that situation to try to extend the game."

The Raven defense come up with a stop on the ensuing CMU possession, setting up the final-second effort by the Ravens.

As the seconds disappeared, the ball went into hands of forward Charlie Wallrapp (Jr., Omaha). Wallrapp missed a jumper from the right wing, but the rebound went directly to his teammate John Harris Jr. (Fr., Lincoln) who put the ball in the basket as the final buzzer sounded, giving Benedictine the victory.

CMU had the lead going into the second half and extended their lead to eight points in the first two minutes of the second half.

Benedictine had to play catch up the majority of the game and never had a lead greater than two points.

In this low scoring game, rebounds and turnovers became a key factor to the Ravens victory. The Ravens scored nine points off of CMU's 11 turnovers and 13 points off of rebounds.

Stevens led the Ravens with 11 points, followed by Wallropp and Harris Jr., who both recorded 10 points. Wallropp also led the team with eight rebounds.

CMU's Elliot Black carried his team with 16 points, followed by teammate Eric Franklin, who had nine points.

Neither team was able to get the 3 point shot down. Benedictine went 1 for 16 in 3-point field goals and CMU went 2 for 13.

Even though his players consistently missed their 3-point field goals, Moody encouraged them to continue to shoot the long ball.

"Our best shooters need to get shots, tonight they didn't go in." Moody said. "We didn't adjust anything on offense, I want them to keep shooting. But our defense has, for the most part, for 17 games been there every night, so when you go 1-16 the only way you win the game is if you've got a good, solid defensive effort and we were able to still pull it out."

Next up, the Ravens travel to take on Missouri Valley College, Monday at 7:30 p.m.
