The Raven softball team picked up a sweep on Tuesday afternoon at the BC Softball Field over the University of St. Mary.
Benedictine took game one 6-4 and then finished off the sweep with a 8-7 win in game two.
In the opener, Katelyn Nill (Jr., Lenexa) and Katie Ricklefs (Fr., Topeka) combined for the win.
Nill threw the first five innings, giving up three earned runs off six hits while striking out eight to earn the win. Ricklefs threw the final two innings, holding USM to two hits.
At the plate, first baseman Melani Braun (Fr., Columbus, Neb.) went 2 for 3 with a double. Designed player Jenna Fitzpatrick (Jr., Murrieta, Calif.) added a three-run home run while Rickleffs added a two-run home run.
In game two, Mallory Goulding (Fr., Plainfield, Ill.) through the first six innings to earn the win. Goulding gave up seven runs off 11 hits before Ricklefs threw the seventh inning to pick up the win.
Offensively, the Ravens belted out 10 hits, two of which were for extra bases.
Fitzpatrick recorded a double and two RBIs while rightfielder Kellie Bachkora (Fr., Lee's Summit, Mo.) added two hits which included a three-run home run that pushed the Ravens ahead in the fifth inning.
Centerfielder Briana Rombach (Jr., Washington, Mo.) closed out the Ravens top hitters with a 2 for 4 effort scoring one run.
The Ravens take their four-game winning streak back out on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Winfield to take on Southwestern College for a 4 p.m. doubleheader – weather permitting.
