Softball sweeps HAAC Weekly awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Raven softball swept the second week of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) softball awards as Ashley Dobbie (Sr., Overland Park was named Player of the Week while Annie Turbyfill (Fr., Chillicothe, Mo.) earning Pitcher of the Week when the awards were announced by the HAAC office on Monday.

Dobbie (far right) had a pair of three-hit games to highlight a week that saw the Ravens split a pair of doubleheaders against Ottawa (Kan.) and Sterling (Kan.) on Friday and Saturday. The Ravens third baseman hit .538 (7-of-13) with a double, a home run, two walks, five runs scored and eight RBI. In the two victories, she was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in each contest and combined for seven RBI.

Turbyfill was in the circle to pick up both wins for the Ravens last week as the Benedictine improved to 3-3 on the season. The true freshman tossed a four-hit shutout with two walks and four strikeouts in a 7-0 win over Ottawa (Kan.), then allowed one run on one hit with seven punchouts in a 16-1 triumph over Sterling (Kan.)

Turbyfill also contributed at the plate going 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI in the shutout of Ottawa and a 1 for 2 effort with a double and RBI in the win over Sterling.
