KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After Mother Nature limited the Raven men's soccer program to one match last week, not even the weather could put a damper on the news delivered on Tuesday afternoon.
Benedictine climbed to No. 3 in the latest edition of the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll late Tuesday afternoon when the association released the second regular-season poll of 2013.
After their Top 25 mid-week showdown with Kansas Wesleyan University was postponed because of severe storms, the Ravens took care of AIB School of Business 2-1 on Friday before taking the weekend off from action.
The win by Benedictine pushed their season record fo 5-0 a figure only exceeded by No. 1 Hastings and No. 7 Grand View (Iowa).
Benedictine takes on Grand View tonight in an early-week Top 25 showdown.
The Ravens are the highest ranked member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC), which placed three teams in the latest poll. Missouri Valley College moved to No. 11 while MNU dropped to No. 16. Baker University was listed in the other's receiving votes category.
After taking on Grand View tonight, the Ravens will return home for a 7:30 p.m. game on Saturday againt John Brown University. Prior to the match, a special dedication ceremony will be held for the John Casey Soccer Center. In addition to the pregame celebration, at halftime the 1983 Raven men's soccer team will be honored as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of their trip to the NAIA Championship Tournament.
