BALDWIN CITY – The Raven volleyball team returned to action on Friday with a pair of matches on the campus of Baker University for the first day of the Baker Invite.
After falling 3-1 to Graceland University this morning, the Ravens responded with a 3-0 sweep over Sterling College to wrap up day one of action.
Against Graceland, in a match that was counted as a non-con match up, the Ravens earned a win in game one 25-20 before Graceland rattled off three straight, 25-14, 26-24, 25-14, to earn the win.
Ashley Gray led the offensive attack with 9 kills, followed by Ashley Voudrie with 8. Emilee Clark anchored the offensive attack, which finished with a total of 32 team kills, with 18 assists.
Defensively, the Ravens tallied 67 digs on the back line. Hannah O"Brien led the way with 12 digs followed by Lauren Eggen with 10.
Gray, Voudrie, Megan Ruzicka and Danielle Miller each added two block assists to the defensive effort.
In the win over Sterling, the Ravens offensive attack finished with 45 kills.
Karlie Dalton led the charge with 14 kills while Gray added 8. Clark finished with 19 assists.
Defensively, Eggen anchored the back line with 13 digs while Gray added three block assists.
The Ravens return to Baldwin City on Saturday for two more matches. They take on Baker at 1 p.m. and wrap up with a 5 p.m match agianst John Brown University. The Ravens lost their season opener on the road to John Brown back on Aug. 24, 3-0.
