Baseball falls to No. 7 Sterling College to start Spring Break road swing

STERLING – The Raven baseball team took to the road to start off Spring Break as they took on preseason No. 7-ranked Sterling College on Monday afternoon.

Benedictine (2-8) gave up four runs in the bottom of the second and were never able to catch up as they fell 12-2 to Sterling (16-6).

Peter Del Castillo earned the start for the Ravens and went three and one-third innings. He gave up five earned runs off eight hits before giving way to Ross Jacobs.

Jacobs, Austin Harrison and Chris Johnson combined to throw the final four and two-third innings.

At the plate, the Ravens scored their two runs off eight hits - all of which were singles.

Hunter McDaniel led the Ravens at the plate. He went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Josh Kagarise tallied Benedictine's loan RBI as Benedictine remaining run, scored by Jerome Roehm was not the result of a hit.

The Ravens move to Wichita for a 4 p.m. game against Friends University on Tuesday. The Ravens dropped their season opener to Friends 18-2 back on February 15 in a neutral site game in Oklahoma.
