Men's Basketball moves to No. 10 heading into HAAC Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Raven men's basketball team will begin their quest for a HAAC Tournament championship as the No. 10 team in NAIA Div. I as the Association released the 10th regular-season Top 25 Coaches' Poll on Tuesday.

Benedictine, who finished the regular season at 21-7, moved from No. 9 to No. 10 after splitting their final two games of the regular season last week.

Benedictine is one of four teams from the HAAC to make an appearance in the 10th poll of the season.

Culver-Stockton College moved up to No. 14 from No. 15. Evangel University dropped from No. 19 to No. 24 while MNU moved from the receiving votes category last week into the Top 25 this week at No. 25.

Central Methodist University was also listed in the others receiving votes category, giving the HAAC five teams on the national radar heading into HAAC Tournament play on Wednesday.

As a team, the Ravens finish their regular season ranked third in NAIA Div. I in 3-point field goal percentage at 41.2 percent. They also ranked 10th in field goal defense at 40.4 percent and blocks per game with a 3.9 average. The Ravens also rank 11th in scoring defense, limiting their opponents to 67.8 points per game.

Individually, Jallen Messersmith continues to rank among the national leaders in block sand blocks per game. He currently ranks third in total blocks with 66 and blocks per game at 2.6.

Brett Fisher enters conference tournament play at No. 3 in NAIA Div. I in 3-point field goal percentage, knocking in an average of 48.3 percent this season.

The top-sseded Ravens host eighth-seeded Baker University at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. Tickets for adults are $6, BC students with ID will be admitted for free and anyone 18 and under is $2.

Wednesay's winner advances to the HAAC Semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday against the winner of the Evangel-Missouri Valley College match up.
