COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Raven volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the season on Friday with a comeback win over Lindenwood University - Bellville in their opener of the 2014 Hampton Inn Volleyball Classic hosted by Columbia College.
LU-Belleville took the first two matches 28-26 and 25-21 before the Ravens rattled off three straight – 25-18, 25-19, 15-9 – to pick up the win.
As a team, the Ravens tallied 57 kills en route to the win.
Patricia Moura led the offensive attack with 16 kills while Ashley Gray added 14.
The offensive attack was set up by Emilee Clark and Taylor Garner. Clark finished with 27 assists while Garner added 25.
Defensively, the Ravens recorded 18 block assists and five solo blocks at the net while picking up 77 digs.
Gray led the front-line defense with six block assists and one solo block while Elise Fulcher added five block assists and one solo block.
Moura led the back line with 20 digs while also accounting for four block assists and one solo block.
Three other Ravens finished with double digit digs as Jamie Navinskey added 16 with Nicole Edgar and Clark added 15 and 13 digs respectively.
The Ravens wrap up day one of tournament play at 5 p.m. with a match against No. 12 Park University.
