KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A six-goal second half pushed the No. 6-ranked Raven Women's Soccer team past Avila University on Wednesday as the Benedictine (8-0-1, 1-0-1 Heart) earned its first conference win over the season, 8-0.
The Ravens limited Avila (2-5-2, 0-2-0 Heart) to just three shots and two shots on goal en route to the convincing win.
Ashley Chandler put the Ravens on the board first off an assist from Rosie McShane during the 28th minute before the Ravens took a 2-0 lead into the break when Chandler knocked in a pass from Kara Hines as time expired.
It took the Ravens 15 seconds to scores their first goal of the second half when McShane scored to open the second-half flood gates.
After Molly Schmidt scored an unassisted goal during the 60th minute, the Ravens added four goals over the final 10 minutes of the match.
Hannah Trandahl scored goals during the 80th and 90th minute. The 80th minute goal came off an assist from Alysa Gusman while the final goal of the match was on a penalty kick.
Between Trandahl's two goals, Madison Sanders scored off a Michaela Dreiling assist during the 83rd minute while Cate Hegarty scoring off an Abbie Hair assist during the 87th minute.
Benedictine outshot Avila 27-3 while putting 16 shots on frame.
Ellen Loughman played the first 45 minutes in goal for the Ravens before giving way to Adrienne Korson, who recorded two saves over 35-plus minutes of action. Kaitlin Hintz finished off the match playing the final nine minutes of the match.
The Ravens continue their road swing on Saturday when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on Grand View University at 4:30 p.m.
