Missouri Valley sweeps road Heart doubleheader from Baseball

MARSHALL, Mo. – Missouri Valley College swept their cross-divisional doubleheader on Saturday over the Raven baseball team.

The Vikings held the Ravens to one hit in the opener to earn a 7-1 win before the two team combined for 29 hits in a 10-6 Vikings win in game two.

In game one, the Vikings Kevin Key held the Ravens to one run off one hit as the Ravens threw a combination of Luke Temperelli, Zachary Hammond and Trevor Alpert.

Temperelli earned the start and threw the first four innings giving up five runs off five hits to suffer the loss.

CJ Kinney recorded the Ravens lone hit while added two stolen bases. Logan Elliott also recorded two stolen bases in the loss.

In game two, Aaron Warneke earned the start and threw the first four and two-thirds innings. He gave up seven runs off 12 hits to suffer the loss.

Benedictine belted out 13 hits in the loss. Chris Johnson went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two home runs while Jacob Kirmer went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two doubles. Peter Hahn added a pair of hits to round out the Ravens day at the plate.

The Ravens remain on the road Monday for another cross-divisional game against Central Methodist University that was originally scheduled for March 24.

Benedictine returns home for the first of its divisional series on Saturday as they host a four-game series with Baker University on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch on both days is scheduled for 1 p.m.
