The No. 15-ranked Raven football team made their 2016 debut on O'Malley Field on Saturday in impressive fasion with a 52-point win over Avila University.

Benedictine (2-0) jumped out to a 31-0 lead over Avila (0-2) before the Eagles scored their only points of the day to close out the first half. The Ravens went on to score four second-half touchdowns to earn a 58-6 win.

Saturday's win moved the Ravens to 16-0 all-time against the Eagles with the 52-point margin setting a new high for Benedictine's largest margin of victory in the series.

Derek Rodgers opened the scoring for the Ravens on their first possession when he converted a 29-yard field just over three minutes into the game.

From their, Benedictine added six rushing touchdowns and a two touchdowns through the air.

Tyler Henness' four-yard rush was followed by a pass from Jacob Koester to David Claypool for 34 yards before Ejay Johnson and DeAndre Turner-Fults scored back-to-back rushing touchdowns with almost one minute. Johnson's touchdown rush was for eight yards while Turner-Fults was for seven yards.

Henness and Johnson added their second rushing touchdowns in the third quarter from 16 and four yards respectively before Terrell Dillon scored on a six-yard rush to cap off the ground attack.

Kyle Harmyk found Zach Renfro on a three-yard pass for the final score of the game seconds into the fourth quarter.

Defensively, Benedictine held Avila to a total of 202 yards and the Ravens came up late in the game to keep the Eagles from scoring their second touchdown of the game.

Chandler Staley led the Ravens in tackles with seven. Benedictine recorded 10 tackles for a loss with Cameron Hajok recording a sack. Matt Murillo and Jared Sheppard combined on a sack to give the Ravens two sacks for a loss of 19 yards.

Benedictine returns to the road next week, traveling to Marshall, Mo., for their second night game of the season. They take on Missouri Valley College at 6 p.m.
