KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time this season, a member of the Raven Women's Basketball team has earned Heart of America Athletic Conference honors.
Coming off a career-high effort against Clarke University on Saturday and a solid performance midweek in the teams' double-overtime win over No. 13 Central Methodist University, Kristen Murphy has been named the Heart Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
In the Ravens 101-92 double overtime win over CMU on Wednesday, Murphy scored 22 points while serving as the primary defender on Heart leading scorer DeJonee Hale. Hale finished the game with just 13 points in over 39 minutes of play, In addition to her scoring effort against CMU, Murphy recorded five assists and five steals to help the Ravens earn the regular-season sweep over the Eagles.
Murphy scored a career-high 29 points on Saturday in the Ravens road win over Clarke University to wrap up a three-game road swing. for
She went 17 of 20 from the free throw line on the week while hitting 15 of 33 field goals.
The Ravens go for their 10th straight win on the season at 5:30 today as they host Evangel University.
