Football holds Culver-Stockton to negative-31 yards rushing in 52-7 win

The No. 12-ranked Raven Football team held Culver-Stockton College (0-8, 0-2 Heart North) to negative-31 yards rushing off 18 carries on Saturday as they recorded three sacks for a loss of 28 yards and nine tackles for a loss of 50 yards.

Benedictine (7-1, 2-0 Heart North) scored at least 14 points in three of four quarters en route to a 52-7 win over the Wildcats.

The rushing total by the Wildcats set a new single-season low for Culver-Stockton as it was the second time they were limited to negative yards rushing this season.

While the Raven defense was holding the Wildcats rushing game in check, Benedictine's rushing game finished the day with a very balanced effort anchored by Ejay Johnson. Johnson finished with 117 yards off 21 carries with three touchdowns as they scored six rushing touchdowns on the day.

Johnson scored from 11 yards and 4 yards in the first quarter to put the Ravens in front 14-0. DeAndre Turner-Fults scored on a 40-yard rush in the second quarter before Johnson added a 1-yard carry to give the Ravens a 28-7 lead at halftime.

The only scoring of the third quarter came on a 21-yard pass from Shaefer Schuetz to Todd Porter. The Ravens added 17 points in the final 15 minutes. Jacob Young converted a 30-yard field to start the quarter before Turner-Fults scored on a 4-yard rush before Porter scored on a 14-yard rush to cap off the Ravens scoring effort.

Benedictine finished with 305 yards rushing off 48 carries with Schuetz finishing the day with 188 yards off 17 of 31 passing.

Jameel Kirkland was the Ravens leading receiver with 55 yards off two catches.

Defensively, Demaria Walters led the Ravens with eight tackles. Jalen James, Tyler Thrasher, Elli Lily and Brett Shepardson recorded the Ravens three sacks while Shane Colonius added two tackles for a loss of nine yards. Cody Sisson recovered a fumble and Thrashed added an interception.

The Ravens return to the road next week when they travel to Oskaloosa, Iowa, to take on William Penn University at 11 a.m. in the Heart Football Game of the Week.
