SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The No. 18-ranked Raven Women's Soccer team used a three-goal first half to distance themselves from Evangel University en route to a 5-0 win on Tuesday.
Benedictine (12-2-2, 7-2-2 Heart) moves a half-game into sole possesion of second place with the win over Evangel (7-9-1, 3-8 Heart) while also running their shutout streak to 360 minutes.
Rosie McShane started off the scoring for the Ravens during the ninth minute off an assist from Molly Schmidt. Anna Romano made it 2-0 Ravens during the 21st minute off an assist from Abbie Hair and then Sydney Routh scored an unassisted goal during the 40th minute to give Benedictine a 3-0 lead at the half.
Hair started the second-half scoring during the 69th off an assist from Emily Ambuul and then Nicole Kelly capped off the scoring effort during the 72nd minute off an unassisted goal.
Benedictine outshot Evangel 45-7 and finished with a 23-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Raven keepers Ellen Loughman and Ashley Rehagen split the match with Loughman recording three saves while Rehagen added two.
Benedictine returns home for a 5 p.m. match on Saturday as they host Mount Mercy University in their regular-season finale. Senior Day will be celebrated during halftime of Saturday's match.
