Women's Basketball opens Heart Postseason with Missouri Valley tonight

The No. 13-ranked Raven Women's Basketball team opens up the 2017 Heart Tournament tonight at 7 p.m. with a match up against Missouri Valley College inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.

Ticket prices for the Heart Postseason $6 for general admission for adults, $2 for students 17 and under while Benedictine students will be admitted for free with a valid ID presented at the student entrance located at the end of the hallway leading to the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.

TIP OFF: The road to Billings and the NAIA Div. I Women's Basketball Tournament begins tonight for the Raven Women as they open Heart Tournament play against Missouri Valley College. ... Benedictine has won seven straight against Missouri Valley College as they host the Vikings for the second straight year in the Heart Tournament. Benedictine won the last meeting in the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium, 76-66, back on Feb. 8.

ABOUT BENEDICTINE: The Ravens enter the postseason ranked 13th after going full circle in the Feb. 14 poll when they matched their preseason ranking at No. 11. ... The Ravens have just two losses in 2017 but they have come in their last five games after Baker earned a 64-62 win on Feb. 11 and then William Penn upset the Ravens 73-69 in their regular-season finale on Feb. 22, 73-69. ... The Ravens placed four on the All-Heart Team - Kristen Murphy, Serena Parker (first team), Ali Taff (Second Team) and Haylee Beard (HM).

ABOUT VALLEY: The Vikings had to win an Opening Round game on Monday to advance to the Heart Quarterfinals. They earned a 64-61 win over Evangel University. ... Missouri Valley trailed heading into the fourth quarter and didn't take over the lead until the final two minutes of the game.

AROUND THE HEART: There are three other tournament quarterfinal games going on tonight around the conference. No. 1 seed Baker hosts No. 8 seed Grand View in Baldwin City, No. 4 MNU hosts No. 5 William Penn University, No. 3 CMU hosts No. 6 Clarke University. UP NEXT: Tonight's winner advances to the Heart Semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. They will play the winner of the CMU-Clarke Quarterfinal game on the campus of the higher seeded team in the match up. ... All games played at Benedictine will be streamed live on the Benedictine Raven Sports Network. The Heart Women's Basketball Championship game is on Monday, March 7, and it will be produced by Niles Media again this year and broadcast on ESPN3, KSMO in Kansas City and Mediacom throughout their coverage area.
