Volleyball earns Family Weekend sweep over Manhattan Christian

The Raven Volleyball team opened up Family Weekend with a sweep on Saturday against Manhattan Christian College as Benedictine (10-5) stepped out of Heart play.

Benedictin earned a 25-8, 25-7, 25-13 win over Manhattan Christian (3-6) to earn their seventh sweep of the season.

The Ravens used a .367 hitting percentage to earn the first set win. They followed that with a .429 as they finished the match hitting at .342 - their second best attacking effort of the season.

Benedictine went deep into the bench in the sweep as 16 players saw time. As a result, no one finished in double figures in kills as the team finished with 37. Sara Rahmanzai led the way with eight, followed by Fleur Wesselink with seven and Sofi Thomas with six.

Taylor Garner and Christel Haack split time at setter. As a team, the Ravens finished with 31 assists led by Garner with 17 while Haack added nine.

Defensively, the Ravens finished with 54 digs and five team blocks. Haack led the back line with 13 digs while Abby Brown added 12. Carly Taylor finished with 11 to round out the back-row defensive effort Katie Stewart finished with three block assists while Wesselink added a solo block.

The Ravens remain at home as they host Avila University at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
