The No. 7-ranked Raven Women's Basketball team ran their winning streak to double figures on Saturday with a 58-43 win over Clarke University.
Benedictine (17-2, 8-1 Heart) extended their Heart-best winning streak to 10 games with the 15-point win over Clarke (12-7, 4-5 Heart).
The Ravens were able to pull away from the Pride in the third quarter holding Clarke to just five points.
The game started out with both teams trading the lead. After Clarke pushed ahead early by as much as five points, the Ravens answered to pull the game event twice down the stretch before Natalie Smaron made a basket at the buzzer to give the Ravens a 13-12 lead headed to the second quarter.
Benedictine never looked back building as much as they were able to push ahead by nine points, 32-23, headed into halftime.
The Raven stepped up their defensive intensity during the third quarter, limiting the Pride to just two field goals as Clarke went 2 for 15. Benedictine also forced Clarke into seven turnovers.
Benedictine pulled in 42 rebounds with 21 offensive rebounds that allowed the Ravens to hold a 14-4 advantage in second chance points.
After not shooting a free throw in the first half, the Ravens went 10 of 15 at the charity stripe in the second half.
Kristen Murphy scored a game-high 21 points as she converted a pair of free throws with three 3-pointers and eight field goals. Jordan Closter added 14 to round out the Ravens scoring from their starting five. Benedictine finished with a 13-5 advantage off the bench, which was anchored by a double-double from Smaron. She finished with a career high 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Ravens will hit the road for their mid-week game next week, traveling to Fayette, Mo., to take on Central Methodist University at 5:30 p.m.
