Women's Soccer started 2018 postseason play as fast as possible. The No. 8 Ravens scored twice in the first few minutes of the match and went on to beat the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats 6-0 in the Heart Postseason Tournament quarterfinals.
Anna Romano kicked things off in the third minute when she gained control of the ball in a mini-scrum inside the six-yard box, then dribbled around the keeper and scored the opening goal of the match. One minute later, Olivia Meyers lined up to take a corner kick and bent it into the net, escaping the reach of Culver keeper Kehley Bitzas to give the Ravens a quick 2-0 lead.
The Ravens sat on that lead until the 39th minute when Natalie Duque took a long shot outside the box that beat Bitzas for another goal.
In the final minute of the half, Meyers lined up for a free kick from the left side, sent it in the box to the right side and Madalynn Gill headed it home for a 4-0 halftime lead. For Gill it was her first career collegiate goal while for Meyers, the assist allowed her to set a new single-season record for assists with 17 and counting.
The Ravens added to their lead in the second half. Nicole Kelly used an assist from Romano to score on a left-footed shot in the 63rd minute. Then, in the 76th minute, Kelly assisted Emily Ambuul for the final goal of the match.
The Ravens controlled the attack all match, piling up 20 shots with 12 of those shots on goal. The Wildcats managed four shots on goal.
Ashley Rehagen played 63:44 in goal for the Ravens and Olivia Berry took the final 26:16 guarding the net.
The top seed in the Heart, the Ravens will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 at home against Missouri Valley College in the Heart Tournament semifinals. Valley needed a shootout to beat Grand View University on Friday night.
