For the second time in two games, the (RV) Raven Women's Lacrosse team was able to pull ahead of their opponent beyond 10 points.
This time, Benedictine (2-0) earned a 18-7 win over (RV) Missouri Baptist University (0-2) to continue their hot start to the season.
After combining on Friday with the University of Dubuque for a total of 20 fouls, the Ravens were called for 38 fouls against Missouri Baptist. On Saturday, the two teams combined for 55 fouls with the Spartans called for just four fouls in the second half.
Benedictine finished the game with a 42-18 advantage in shots while they recorded 31 shots on goal. Three Ravens finished with at least three goals while seven Ravens got into the scoring column.
Molly Muehlebach netted the first two goals of the game for the Ravens. Kacey Moore added an unassisted goal with 21:59 left to play in the first half to push the Raven in front by three goals before Missouri Baptist netted their first goal of the game. After the Spartans pulled with two goals, the Ravens answered with five unanswered goal that were sparked by two straight goals from Muehlebach. Lizzie Darrow scored inside the final 90 seconds of the half to push the Ravens to a 10-4 lead at the half.
The Ravens scored first in the second half on Darrow's second goal and then answered the Spartans fifth goal of the game with four straight to keep the clock running for much of the remainder of the game as the Ravens held a 10-goal advantage.
Muehlebach and Darrow finished with four goals each. Moore added three goals while Mary McEnerney, Chiara Petruccelli and Clare Hanson added two each. Emily Ruhland finished the game with one goal and four assists as Hanson led the team with five assists. Moore and Darrow finished with two assists while Muehlebach added one.
Teresa Petruccelli recorded six saves with four coming in the second half. Defensively, the Ravens forced Missouri Baptist into 24 turnovers while recording 12 caused turnovers. McEnerney and Moore led the way with three caused turnovers each.
Benedictine wraps up their season-opening home stand on Thursday, March 1, with a 6 p.m. game against Johnson & Wales (Colo.) University as they open up KCAC play.
