After narrowly dropping their opening game of their four-game series against Morningside College on Sunday afternoon, 3-1, the Raven Baseball team walked off Laughlin Field with a split, taking game two, 4-3.
After scoring three runs in the bottom of the first of game two, the Ravens rallied in the bottom of the seventh when Stetson Brant singled in Matthew Jarecki to give the Ravens the win and the split.
In the opener of the series, the Ravens were held hitless by Morningside starter Richard Mitchell through five innings. Kamden Miller suffered the loss, throwing five innings. Miller finished with five strikeouts but gave up three earned runs off eight hits before Connor Leach threw the final two innings holding Morningside hitless with three strikeouts.
Daryl Myers recorded the Ravens lone extra-base hit, with a double. He also drove in the Ravens lone run in the sixth inning scoring Jarecki.
In game two, the Ravens recorded a total of 10 hits against two Morningside pitchers. Benedictine recording five straight singles to open the inning, which led to their three runs.
After giving up three runs, with just one earned, over the first three innings of the game, Benedictine's Michael Kruse found his rhythm on the hill. He went the distance, recording six strikeouts over seven innings off five hits.
The Ravens return to Laughlin Field at Olsen Stadium today at Noon for another doubleheader with Morningside College. Both games will be broadcast live on BRSN at portal.stretchinternet.com/ben.
