Baseball sweeps St. Ambrose to open four-game series

The Raven Baseball team returned to Laughlin Field on Saturday to open up their final non-conference home series before Heart play as they took on St. Ambrose University.

Benedictine (7-6) opened the series with a sweep at Olsen Stadium winning Saturday's doubleheader, 7-2 and 2-1 over St. Ambrose (1-6).

In Saturday's opener, Kamden Miller earned the start of the hill. He threw four and one-third before giving way to Connor Leach. Miller gave up five earned runs off seen hits with Leach holding St. Ambrose to just two hits over his outing. Miller picked up the win by Leach was credited with the save.

At the plate, each team finished with nine hits. Stetson Brant and Andrew Richards each recorded a home run while Daryl Myers added a double with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate. Stetson finished with three RBIs while Richards and Myers added two and one respectively.

In game two, the Ravens got a complete-game effort from pitcher Michael Kruse. He gave up just one run - unearned - off five hits with three strikeouts to earn the win.

Richards drove in both runs for the Ravens with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning as the two teams matched each other again with five hits each. Austin Watamaniuk recorded a double to wrap up the Ravens day at the plate.
