ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Raven Men's Lacrosse team opened their three-game Spring Break road trip on Wednesday with a 11-9 over Concordia (Mich.) University.
Benedictine (3-3) outscored Concordia (0-2) 9-5 in the second half to overcome a 4-2 halftime deficit and pick up the non-conference win.
Trailing 1-0 after the first quarter, the Ravens pulled within two at the half off a pair of goals from Peter Girard.
Goals by Joseph Doyle and Tyler Santini in the third quarter pulled the Ravens even at 4-4 and Girard's third goal of the game pushed the Ravens ahead, 5-4, with 8:35 left in the first quarter.
Concordia closed the third quarter and opened the fourth quarter with five unanswered goals to regain the lead at 9-7 with 9:45 left to play. Benedictine answered with goals from Steele Moran, Sean Molyneux and a pair from Girard to erase their deficit and pull ahead for good.
Girard led the Ravens in scoring with five while Molyneux finished with two. Doyle, Ryan Heinser, Moran and Santini added a goal each. Trevor Svoboda led the Raven in assists with seven while Brendon Boh, Kyle Tomc and Girard each added an assist respectively.
Dustin Reis went the distance in the net for the Ravens. He finished with 10 saves to pick up the win. Defensively, the Ravens tallied 14 caused turnovers as Concordia committed 29. Santini and Moran led the defensive effort with three caused turnovers each.
The Ravens continue their trip through Michigan today at 2 p.m. today as they take on (RV) Madonna University in Livonia, Mich. They wrap up their trip on Friday against University of Michigan-Dearborn.
