The Raven Baseball team opened up a four-game Heart South series on Friday in impressive fashion as they swept a doubleheader over Evangel University (21-22; 13-9 Heart).
Benedictine (21-22, 11-12 Heart) scored a total of 32 runs en route to the sweep as they took game one 21-9 and game two 11-6.
Alex Garcia earned the start for the Ravens in the series opener. He went six innings, giving up five earned runs off 11 hits with three strikeouts to earn the win.
At the plate, the Ravens scored their 21 runs off 16 hits. Michael Slaten went 5 for 5 with three RBIs, two home runs, a double and five runs scored. Matthew Jarecki went 3 for 4 with five RBIs, two home runs and four runs scored. Daryl Myers added two RBIs with a home run. Austin Watamaniuk, Peter Hahn and Jacob Pavlyak added a double each while Pavlyak finished with a triple and four RBIs.
In game two, Kamden Miller earned the start. He went four innings giving up four runs off eight hits before giving way to John Weber. Weber threw the final three innings, giving up two runs off five hits with three strikeouts as he earned the save.
At the plate, the Ravens recorded 13 hits. Myers went 2 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs while Slaten added a double. Hahn finished with two hits and three RBIs while Pavlyak added two hits and two RBIs.
The Ravens wrap up the series today at 1 p.m. back on Laughlin Field at Olsen Stadium.
