FAYETTE, Mo. – After Mother Nature postponed a pair of weekend doubleheaders, the Raven Softball team was finally back in action on Tuesday as they took on No. 17 Central Methodist University for the second time this season.
CMU (27-, 17-4 Heart) took game one 9-1 in six innings before Benedictine (20-14, 10-12 Heart) rallied for the split, taking game two 10-5.
Tuesday's doubleheader was originally scheduled for April 8 but was postponed due to poor weather conditions.
In the opener, Erin Ziebarth earned the start inside the circle for the Ravens. She went four and one-third giving up seven runs off nine hits before being relieved by Lexi Ricke.
At the plate, the Ravens scored their lone run off four hits with Alex Burris, Tiffani Ray, Molly Chevalier and Regina Splane recorded a hit each while Splane scored a run.
In game two, the Ravens scored five runs in the eighth inning to earn the upset and break a 5-5 tie against the Eagles.
Alex Gilham earned the win throwing a total of four and one-third giving up three runs off four hits. She earned the start and then re-entered in the seventh inning to finish off the game.
Blair Shanks anchored the Ravens at the plate. She went 2 of 5 with three RBIs, two doubles and two runs scored. Burris added added a double, two RBIs and two runs while Ray and Abby Hyde added a double each while driving in a combined four runs. Faith Harding accounted for the remaining RBI.
The Ravens remain on the road Wednesday with a doubleheader against Avila University in Kansas City, Mo., at 2 p.m.
