MARSHALL, Mo. – The No. 12-ranked Raven Football team scored 21 unanswered points on Saturday night en route to their second straight win over Missouri Valley College.
After trading touchdowns with the Vikings in the first quarter, Benedictine (2-0) scored two second-quarter touchdowns and added a fourth quarter touchdown to hand (RV) Missouri Valley (0-1) a 21-point loss.
Benedictine capped of a game-opening touchdown drive on a 19-yard rushing touchdown from Shaefer Schuetz. The Vikings answered minutes later to send the game into the second quarter tied at 7-all.
Marquis Stewart scored the Ravens second touchdown on a four-yard carry early in the second quarter and then minutes later Schuetz found Aaron Jackson on a 41-yard touchdown pass.
Stewart capped off the Ravens scoring efforts with a fourth-quarter touchdown on a 44-yard run as he finished with 182 yards off 27 carries with two touchdowns.
Schuetz finished with 167 yards off 14 of 20 passing while Jackson added 100 yards off four catches as the Ravens finished with 377 yards of total offense – 210 on the ground and 167 through the air.
Defensively, the Ravens held the Vikings to 119 yards on the ground as the finished with a total of five sacks and 11 tackles for a loss of 58 yards.
Tyler Shephard and Brett Shepardson finished with seven tackles each to lead the Ravens as they both recorded a sack and a total of 3.5 tackles for a loss. Shephard was also credited with a forced fumble. Cody Sisson and Dante Edwards were credited with the remaining sacks while Tyler Thrasher recorded his second interception of the season.
The Ravens remain on the road for their third game of the season, traveling to Ozark, Mo., to take on Evangel University at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
