Volleyball wins second straight #HeartVB match with sweep of Graceland

Playing back-to-back conference matches for the second straight weekend, the Raven Volleyball team picked up a sweep on Saturday as they defeated Graceland University inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.

Benedictine (9-8, 4-3 Heart) battled back in both the second and third sets as they earned the sweep over Graceland (9-14, 0-6 Heart).

The Ravens opened the match with a 25-19 win after hitting a set-high .333 while holding Graceland to .132.

In set two, the Ravens battled back to earn a 25-22 win and then set three needed extra points as the Ravens earned a 26-24 win.

Fleur Wesselink led the Ravens in kills with a match-high 16 while Makenna Ketter added 12 as she recorded a .407 attack percentage. As a team, the Ravens finished the match with a total of 42 kills.

Paxton Throne set up the offensive attack, which finished with .250 attack percentage, as she finished with 34 of the Ravens 36 assists.

Defensively, the Ravens tallied 67 digs with eight block assists. Abby Brown led the back line with 25 digs while Wesselink added 13 with Hailey Folkers finishing with 10. Wesselink, Elizabeth Nobert and Sara Rahmanzai finished with two block assists each.

The Ravens continue their home stand on Tuesday as they host Baker University at 7 p.m.
