Women's soccer secures second Heart win with fourth straight shutout

The No. 2-ranked Raven Women's Soccer team remained undefeated in conference play on Saturday as they earned a shutout over Baker University.

Benedictine (8-0-1, 2-0-0 Heart) earned a 3-0 win over Baker (3-4-0, 0-2-0) to pick up their fourth straight and seventh overall shut of the season.

The Ravens broke the scoreless draw late in the first half on a goal from Emily Ambuul. Ambuul took a corner from Olivia Meyers and headed it past Baker keeper Taylor Rogers during the 38th minute.

The score remained at 1-0 Benedictine into the 58th minute when the Ravens added their second goal. Anna Romano was able to beat Rogers for the second gaol of the match after the Baker keeper deflected the initial shot by Ambuul giving Ambuul an assist.

The final score of the match came during the 76th minutes as Ambuul was able to turn the corner on her defender and beat Rogers one-on-one for the goal.

The two teams finished tied with 16 shots a piece. Benedictine keepers Ashley Rehagen and Olivia Berry combined for the shutout with Rehagen tallying 11 saves while Berry finished with two.

The Ravens remain at home on Wednesday as they take on current No. 24 Central Methodist University at 5 p.m.
