The No. 3-ranked Raven Women's Soccer team used 12 shots on goal to score three times on Friday night en route to a 3-1 win over LSU-Shreveport at the BC Soccer Complex.
Benedictine (4-0-1) held LSU-Shreveport (1-3-0) without a shot into the 62nd minute of play as they earned the third home win of the season.
The Ravens struck first during the eighth minute of play when Natalie Duque sent a cross through the box to the far post that connected with Emily Ambuul who sent a one-touch shot passed the Pilots keeper Karolyn Hasler.
The score remained at 1-0 Benedictine through halftime. The Ravens added their second goal during the 73rd minute after Olivia Meyers fed Anna Romano on a run down the middle of the field. After Romano's first effort was blocked by Hasler, she was able to clean up her own rebound and beat Hasler for the second goal of the match.
Benedictine capped off their scoring effort nearly six minutes later when Nicole Kelly connected on a cross inside the far post. LSU-Shreveport was unable to clear the ball defensively and Kelly was able to gather up a loose ball and connected on a quick strike.
LSU-Shreveport was able to break their scoreless drought during the 90th minute of play as the Ravens yielded just their second goal of the season.
Ashley Rehagen earned the win in goal as she played into the 77th minute. Olivia Berry finished off the match recorded the lone save.
Benedictine finished the match with a 21-2 advantage in shots and a 12-2 advantage in shots on gaol.
The Ravens hit the road on Saturday for a trip to Columbia, Mo., to take on William Woods University at 4:30 p.m. The match, which was originally scheduled for Fulton, Mo., has moved to Battle HS in Columbia.
