Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

(24) Women's Soccer scores 2-1 Senior Night victory over Culver-Stockton

Women's Soccer picked up an important win at home on Saturday, topping the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats 2-1.

The win guarantees the (24) Ravens (13-4, 7-3 Heart of America) will host a first-round game in the Heart Postseason tournament.

The first half was an even match through the first 20 minutes, but the Ravens grabbed control of possession and the match to close out the half.

The Ravens goal came when Hannah Schmit grinded out possession on the left side of the 18-yard box, then sent in a cross to Sydney Routh, who beat CSC's Courtney Croghan for the goal.

A couple more scoring opportunities nearly added to the Ravens lead, but Nicole Kelly's shot to the bottom right corner was saved by Croghan. Just before half, Emily Ambuul sent a rocket toward the bottom left corner, but the shot deflected off the left post.

Maisy Louree set up the Ravens second-half goal, battling for a ball inside the box and then slipping a centering pass towards Routh who was able to net her second goal of the game to put the Ravens up 2-0 with 31 minutes left in the match.

The Wildcats cut the Ravens lead in half with 3 minutes left in the game. CSC sent a free-kick into the box and, after a couple of deflections, Shelby Winn knocked the ball past Olivia Berry in goal to make it 2-1. The Ravens were able to kill the rest of the clock, securing the win.

The Ravens finished with 27 shots, 15 coming on goal. Ashley Rehagen had two saves in goal during her play in the first half.

The final regular-season contest for the Ravens will be Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Evangel University.
