Men's Basketball moves up to No. 2 in latest NAIA Div. I Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Raven Men's Basketball team moved up to No. 2 in the fifth NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll as the Association released the latest poll on Tuesday afternoon.

Benedictine (22-2) earned 212 points - just seven shy of the top ranking - while retaining their one first-place vote in the latest poll.

The Ravens are the highest ranked team from the Heart in the poll. Peru State College dropped to No. 14 from No. 11 while William Penn University dropped down to No. 16 from No. 14. Since losing to Benedictine back on Jan. 14 when they were ranked No. 2, the Statesmen have lost four of seven to move down in the poll.

Benedictine's current winning streak of 21 straight is the second-longest in program history. They are chasing the 23-game winning streak set by the 1964-65 St. Benedict's squad, They passed the 1967 NAIA Championship team, who won 19 straight en route to the title, last week with their win over Baker University.

The Raven continue to get it done on the defensive end of the floor. They rank second in NAIA Div. I in field goal defense (38.5) and third in scoring defense (64.7).

Benedictine has two remaining home games in the Heart regular season. They host Evangel University at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A win over Evangel allows Ravens to clinch at least a share of the Heart Championship. With six games left in the regular season, the Ravens have a 5.5 game lead on the field making their magic number two in order to clinch the Championship outright.
