Women's Lacrosse opens KCAC play with shutout over USM

LEVENWORTH – The No. 2-ranked Raven Women's Lacrosse team opened up defense of their KCAC Championship on Saturday with a 20-0 win over the Univeristy of St. Mary.

Benedictine (8-0, 1-0 KCAC) secured their second shutout of the season over USM (0-3, 0-1 KCAC) holding the Spires without a shot on offense en route to the win.

Aiden McEnerney led the Ravens with four goals. Mary McEnerney and Emiy Ruhland scored three goals each while Natalie Wechter, Anne Marie Mannella and Kacey Moore added two each. Molly Muehlebach, Megan Rossman, Rianna England and Clare Ryan rounded out the Ravens scoring effort with a goal each. Ryan finished with four assists while Mannella added a fifth as the Ravens outshot the Spires 48-0.

England scored the first goal of the game minutes in before Emily Ruhland scored a pair of goals off assists from Ryan. The Ravens finished the first half with a 12-goal advantage and then added eight second-half.

Benedictine forced USM into 23 turnovers, 10 of which were credited as caused turnovers. Muehebach and Mary McEnerney finished with four caused turnovers each to lead the defensive effort. Taryn St. Louis earned the win in goal.

The Ravens are scheduled to host Clarke University this week back at the BC Athletic Complex. More details will be posted at www.ravenathletics.com as the schedule for the week is finalized with Clarke administration.
