Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

(2) Madonna holds off upset-minded (RV) Men's Lacrosse for two-goal win

The (RV) Men's Lacrosse team faced off with their second NAIA top-five ranked opponent at the BC Athletic Complex this season on Friday as they welcomed No. 2 Madonna University.

Benedictine (2-3) used a 10-goal second half to push the Crusaders down to the wire but couldn't break through as Madonna (4-0) held on for a 16-14 win.

Madonna opened the game with seven straight goals sparked by reigning NAIA Player of the Year Cole Gingall. With just over three minutes left in the opening quarter, the Ravens scored their first goal of the game when Peter Girard found Kyle Tomc from distance. From there, the Ravens went on to outscore the Crusaders 13-9.

The two teams played to a tie in the second quarter but that was enough to give the Crusaders a 9-4 lead at the break before Benedictine kicked their offense into gear in the second half.

Benedictine held a 25-17 advantage in shots in the second half to finish the game with a 45-42 lead. The Ravens also held a 30-29 advantage in shots on goal. Madonna goalie Tyler Dohmeier finished the game with 16 saves, nine of which came in the second half to keep his team in front. Duncan Loud and Dustin Reis combined in goal for the Ravens. Loud suffered the loss, giving up nine goals with six saves while Reis finished with seven saves and seven goals allowed.

Jack Kandoth led the Ravens in scoring with four goals while Brady Guck added three. Tomc and Ryan Heinser finished with two each while Girard, James Carson and Joseph Doyle scored one each. Girard led the team with four assists while Sean Molyneux, Tyler Santini and Kandoth added one each.

The Ravens are off until Tuesday, March 12, when they return to the BC Athletic Complex to take on (RV) Aquinas College at 6 p.m.
