The Raven Softball team picked up their fourth sweep of the season in Heart play on Monday as they took won the doubleheader against Missouri Valley College at the BC Softball Field.
Monday's doubleheader was originally scheduled for Saturday in Marshall, Mo., but the weekend rain forced a schedule change but didn't slow down the Ravens as they earned a pair of wins, 7-2 and 7-1.
In the opener, Brianna Hoffman earned her first career start inside the circle for the Ravens. She threw five innings before being relieved but took full advantage her offensive support. Hoffman gave up two runs off seven hits with four strikeouts after being handed a 5-0 lead heading into the second inning.
The Ravens broke the game open early in the first. A double by Megan Medhus scored Alex Burris before Regina Splane cleared the bases with a grand slam. Medhus finished with two doubles and two RBIs while Molly Chevalier added a solo home run in the sixth inning.
In game two, Alex Gilham gave the Ravens another solid start inside the circle. She threw six and one-third innings before she was relieved. Gilham finished with four strikeouts while allowed one run off three hits.
At the plate, Burris set the table with a 2-for-4 effort.She recorded a triple and four RBI while Blair Shanks finished with a 2 for 3 game adding a double. Chevalier finished with two hits ro rout out the Ravens offensive efforts.
Benedictine hits the road today, traveling to Baker University for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
