The No. 7-ranked Raven Men's Lacrosse team sent their Senior Class out with a convincing win on Saturday as they earned a 14-5 win over St. Ambrose University at the BC Athletic Complex.
Before celebrating the five-member group of Seniors, Benedictine (5-4, 2-1 KCAC) scored early and then used a five-goal third quarter to distance themselves from St. Ambrose (5-7, 1-4 KCAC).
Sean Molyneux scored the Ravens first goal of the game off an assist from Kyle Tomc with 11:47 left in the first quarter. The Fighting Bees answered 90 seconds later before the Ravens rattled off four straight to pull ahead 5-1 headed into the second quarter.
The Ravens stepped up their defensive efforts over the next 30 minutes as they hold the Fighting Bees scoreless through the second and third quarters while limiting St. Ambrose to just six shots over the same time frame.
Benedictine finished the game with a 69-20 advantage in shots while recording 39 shots on goal. Adam Kasper finished with 25 saves over 60 minutes in goal.
Molyneux, Brady Guck and Jack Kandoth led the Ravens with two goals each. Peter Girard, James Carson, Mihail Sourgadakis (first career goal), Joseph Doyle, Trevor Svoboda, Tyler Santini, Remy Dujakovich and Ryan Heinser scored one goal each. Girard, Svoboda, Molyneux and Guck finished with two assists each while Kandoth joined Tomc with one.
Duncan Loud earned the win in goal, finishing with five saves. Defensively, the Ravens forced 29 turnovers recording 13 caused turnovers. Dujakovich, Santini, Keaton Carney and Doug Shoopman led the way with two caused turnovers each. Sourgadakis won 12 of 22 faceoffs to round out the defensive efforts.
The Ravens hosts Missouri Valley College at 5 p.m. Wednesday as they wrap up their home KCAC schedule with three games remaining in the regular season.
