KANSAS CITY, Mo. –The (5) Raven Women's Soccer team faced a familiar opponent on Tuesday night on the road as they traveled to take on Avila University for the first time since the Eagles left the Heart of America Athletic Conference for the KCAC. Benedictine (3-0-0) earned their fifth straight win over Avila (0-3-0) with a 4-0 result.
Nicole Kelly continued her strong start to the 2019 season on Tuesday, scoring three of the Ravens four goals against the Eagles. Kelly scored the two first-half goals during the third and sixth minute of play and then capped off the scoring during the 54th minute. Emily Ambuul and Maisy Louree were credited with assists on Kelly's first two goals while Louree scored the Ravens first goal of the second half during the 5th minute. Hannah Schmit assisted on the final goal of the match.
Benedictine held a 20-1 advantage in shots while recording 13 shots on goal. Ashley Rehagen and Olivia Berry combined for the shutout splitting the game up in goal by half.
The Ravens remain on the road for their next two matches as they travel to Hastings, Neb., for a 4 p.m. match on Friday with (12) Hastings College. The two schools have met nine times since 2010 with the Ravens posting a 5-3-1 record against the Broncos. A year ago, the two teams played to a scoreless draw on campus.
