MARSHALL, Mo. – The Raven Volleyball team took their third straight Heart match and second straight on the road on Tuesday beating Missouri Valley College 3-1.
Benedictine (9-11, 4-2 Heart) took the opening set 25-19, before falling 28-26 in the second set. The Ravens rallied to take the final two sets, 25-22 and 25-19 to earn the win over the Vikings.
The Ravens continued to improve their attack efforts. They finished the match with a .236 attack percentage and used a match-high .375 to help bounce back in the third set. As a team, they finished with 59 kills as Fleur Wesselink and Elizabeth Nobert led the attack. Wesselink finished with 27 kills while hitting .407. Nobert added 12 kills while hitting .458.
Benedictine assisted on 55 of their 59 kills as Paxton Throne and Taea Kapels split time at setter. Kapels finished with 26 assists while Throne added 24.
Defensively, the Ravens finished with 75 digs and 10 team blocks. Maria Duran led the backline efforts with 16 digs. She was followed by Taylor Shroll with 14 and Hannah Thomazin with 10. Nobert led the front row with six block assists and one solo block as Donetta Cage and Kate Hanson finished with three and two block assists respectively.
The Ravens remain on the road Saturday, traveling to Fayette, Mo., for a triangular against (14) Central Methodist University and (RV) Ottawa University. The play CMU at Noon and Ottawa at 2 p.m.
