FAYETTE, Mo. – The (RV) Raven Women's Basketball team outscored (8) Central Methodist University 55-54 over the final three quarters on Monday night but in the end, they couldn't overcome a slow start as the Eagles earned an 81-64 win.
After being postponed to Monday night due to the winter weather that hit the region on Saturday, the Ravens hit the road for the first of three games on the week as they took on the Eagles inside Pucket Fieldhouse.
Central Methodist converted 62.5 percent from the floor in the first quarter while holding Benedictine to just 17.4 percent as the Eagles built a 27-9 lead into the second quarter.
The Ravens heated up in the second quarter, shooting 57.1 percent and outscored the Eagles 26-18 to trail 45-35 at the half. Grace Brzozowski scored the first basket of the second half to pull the Ravens within eight points but that was all the closer they could get as they just couldn't overcome their slow start.
Benedictine finished with a 33-16 advantage off the bench as Skylar Washington led the Ravens with 12 points. Kayla Staley added 10 points while Grace Brzozowski and Ali Brzozowski chipped in with 9 points each. The Ravens finished the game shooting 34.8 percent from the floor while adding a 62.5 percent effort from the free-throw line.
The Ravens remain on the road Wednesday, traveling to Peru, Neb., for a 5:30 p.m. game with Peru State College before returning home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game with (19) MNU.
