BALDWIN CITY – The (RV) Raven Women's Basketball team opened up the second half of Heart of America Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night with a 59-53 loss to Baker University.
Baker converted 5 of 6 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to cap off their comeback effort and earn the six-point win.
After leading 15-12 after the first quarter, the Ravens opened the game up in the second quarter connecting on 50 percent from the field while holding Baker to just 26.7 percent. They controlled the paint, outscoring the Wildcats 14-4 en route to a 35-2 lead at the half.
In the second half, Baker gradually chipped away at their deficit. Even with the Wildcats closing the margin, the Ravens still maintained a lead, 46-38, heading into the fourth quarter.
Baker opened the final 10 minutes of play with a 12-0 run that erased the Benedictine lead and took the game to its first tie at 46-46 with just under 8 minutes left to play. Ali Brzozowski answered the free throws with a basket in the paint to tie the game up for the third time before Baker took over the lead for good on a 3-pointer.
