Men's Basketball took down the Graceland Yellowjackets in convincing fashion Saturday at home, winning 92-65.
The Ravens rode hot shooting to the win, making 66.7 percent of their shots in the game and going 10-of-18 from behind the 3-point line. The strong outside shooting was aided by efficient drives to the paint, where the Ravens scored 44 points.
A plus-15 rebounding margin also benefited the Ravens as they held Graceland to 22 boards and just 12 second-chance points. The Yellowjackets had just eight assists in the game as the Ravens defense forced a lot of one-on-one play by the visitors.
On the offensive end, though, the Ravens moved the ball well and racked up 18 assists. Ten different Ravens scored in the game and five scored in double-figures. Jayden Temme led the charge with 24 points and Chris Jackson added 18 points, including 4-7 shooting from deep. Jaiden Bristol had 11 points, nine assists, six boards, and three steals, and Tyson Cathy and Eric Krus added 10 points, each. It was a strong return for Krus in his first game of the 2019-2020 season.
The Ravens couldn't have hoped for a better first half, shooting 69 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from 3-point range en route to a 50-30 halftime lead. The Ravens assisted on 10 of their 18 field goals, pulled down eight more rebounds than the Yellowjackets and had just six turnovers.
On the defensive end, the Ravens held Graceland to 39.4 percent shooting and 30.8 from deep to help build the 20-point lead.
The Ravens (8-6, 6-2 Heart) have a road trip in front of them for their next three games. They'll play at Evangel University, at Central Methodist University, and at Peru State College before returning home for a game Saturday, Jan. 18 against (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene University.
