FAYETTE, Mo. – The defense recorded 13 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, and a late-game on Saturday as Raven Football earned 16-0 win over Central Methodist University.
Benedictine (5-1, 2-0 Heart South) scored two first-quarter touchdowns and then added a fourth-quarter safety en route to the shutout the Eagles.
The Ravens scored on their first possession of the game when Rayshon Mills capped off an 8-play, 55-yard drive with a 10-yard rushing touchdown. The second touchdown of the game came through the air when Luke Laskowski connected on an 8-yard touchdown pass to Austin Buteaux to cap off a 15-play, 66-yard drive on their second possession.
Defensively, the Ravens held the Eagles to a total of 120 yards that included just 12 yards on the ground off 26 rushes. Brett Shepardson led the team with 3.5 sacks for a loss of 16 yards to go along with 7 tackles. Tyler Tierney and Jalen James also recorded 7 tackles with Tierney recording a sack and 2 tackles for a loss. In total, thee Ravens 13 tackles for a loss led to a loss of 70 yards. Keon Boulware also recorded two interceptions in the win.
Mills finished with 104 yards off 33 carries to anchor the Raven offensive effort over the Eagles.
The Ravens remain on the road for their next conference game, traveling to Olathe to take on MNU at 1 p.m.
