DES MOINES – Grand View University capitalized three times off six Raven Football turnovers on Saturday as the Vikings won the NAIA Football Game of the Week over Benedictine, 41-7.
Defensively, the Vikings recorded six turnovers scored two touchdowns and a field goal off three en route to the win.
Benedictine's lone touchdown came in the second quarter when the Ravens used a 99-yard, 13-play drive to score. Garett KEttle scored on a one-yard run midway through the quarter to pull the Ravens within a touchdown of the Vikings, 13-7.
Grand View extended their lead to two touchdowns headed into halftime before the Ravens were able to shut them out in the third quarter.
Benedictine finished the game with 221 yards of total offense. Kettle was the teams leading rusher with 58 yards off 16 carries. He also led the team in passing yards going 3 of 15 for 78 yards. Aaron Shannon led the receiving corp with 45 yards.
Defensively, Jalen James recorded a season-high 11 tackles with one for a loss. Tyler Tierney added seven while Daveon Drayton and Brett Shepardson finished with six each. Benedictine finished the game with a total of four tackles for a loss of six yards.
