The (5) Raven Men's Lacrosse team opened their season on Saturday on Legacy Field against nationally-ranked NCAA Div. II opponent Rockhurst University.
The Hawks scored seven straight to end the first quarter and never looked back as they earned an 18-4 win over Benedictine (0-1).
After Rockhurst scored the games opening goal, Benedictine answered with a goal from Brady Guck to even the game at 1-1. The Hawks scored 12 straight goals extending into the second quarter before they took a 13-1 lead at the half.
After being limited to just the Guck first-quarter goal, the Ravens scored three times in the second half on goals from Joseph Doyle, Sean Molyneux and Peter Girard. James Carson was credited with an assists on the goals from Doyle and Molyneux.
Duncan Loud and Dustin Reis split time in goal for the Ravens to combine for 18 saves. Loud finished with 11 while Reis added 7. Defensively, Benedictine forced Rockhurst into 21 turnovers with Carson, Ben Schwartz, Reis and Steele Moran tallying a caused turnover each.
The Ravens hit the road for their next six games, first up a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for games with Tennessee Wesleyan and Keiser University on Feb. 15-16. Both games will be played at Keiser.
